Tom Lisanti is an award-winning author and film historian specializing in 1960s and 1970s film and television. His upcoming book, Another World: The Drama Behind Daytime TV’s Only 90-Minute Soap, will be released by BearManor Media this Fall 2026. His latest works include Dueling Harlows: The Race to Bring the Actress's Life to the Silver Screen (McFarland and Company), winner of the 2026 Independent Publisher Book Award (the IPPY) Bronze Medal for Best Performing Arts Book; Texas: An Oral History of Daytime TV’s Answer to Dallas (BearManor Media); and Ryan’s Hope: An Oral History of Daytime’s Groundbreaking Soap (Citadel Press/Kensington Books). In 2010, he co-authored the memoir Trippin’ with Terry Southern: What I Think I Remember with former actress Gail Gerber. The book was honored with an IPPY Silver Medal for Best Memoir. A frequent media guest, Lisanti has appeared on numerous television programs, including PBS’s Steve Beverly’s TV Classics, The Playboy Murders, and Turner Classic Movies, where he co-hosted a week of 1960s beach films with Ben Mankiewicz. He has also been featured in the documentary The Green Girl and has made multiple appearances on The Diana Montford Show. His expertise has been showcased across a wide range of platforms, including YouTube programs such as The Locher Room, The Jim Masters Show, and The Michael Fairman Channel; radio programs including TV Confidential, Nutmeg Chatter, and WNYC’s SoundCheck; and podcasts such as Forgotten Hollywood, The San Francisco Experience, and NitrateVille. In addition to his books and media appearances, Lisanti has contributed to publications including Cinema Retro, Cinema of the ’70s, Films of the Golden Age, and Scary Monsters.
